Cool if I subscribe like, today... I can get it this month when it becomes available?

And if I make a demo in 3D, can non subscribers play it?

If you pay before the end of the month, you'll have access to the beta the next month.

Since 3D is still in early beta, we've asked people to not release anything, including screenshots, videos and games, without prior approval from us. Not that we expect there to be much need, since it is the first beta and there's still some ways to go for 3D's first phase to be complete.

Let's hope no one goes overboard and spoils it, but anyway how many bugs are there so far (don't give specifics, but how smooth is it)?

Question about 3D. Is it going to enable first person viewing through the character you play as? Or will it only be like runescape where you can rotate the camera.

Some scripting knowledge, until 3D is more fleshed out, will be needed to get a 3rd person perspective, though 001's current goals aren't FPS just yet (though they will be over time).

That'll be the focus of next month. This week is static meshes and imported meshes, and making sure lighting's working alright. And camera stuff.

That means the sprites/models will appear 2D-esque for now?

Yea, similar to the video. But there'll actually be 3D objects in the scene, with nice lighting, something not seen in the video ;).

As in, walls will have all four sides visible, and objects will appear more 3D-ish in the game?

Walls were already 3D in the video. 2D objects were projected upright, also in the video. The difference is the objects will actually be 3D that they can play with.

Maybe he meant 3D models?

I've wondered a bit, can you then put sideways doors and sideways wall objects with 3D?

Will the built models come pre-meshed and able to re-mesh? Or are they grey and you pick the mesh when placing?

Also how would meshing work? How would you set up the texture for it to wrap around the object correctly? Could you maybe give an example of this if that's ok and not too revealing?

I meant pre-built 3d models. Will they come with textures on them already or are they blank and we pick a texture for it when placing on the map?

Mike. How hard, could you say, will it be to make my game in first person perspective when the new 3D comes out? Or will that just be a standard thing with it?

Also, if you had to say when the 3D will officially be public and ready to go, which of these is more accurate?

It wouldn't be hard at all, you'd just need a timer to position the camera based on, the X, Y and Z positions of the character, and the direction that character is facing. We should be able to help you with that. Then you could make dynamic objects/effects that shows the hand of the character when doing actions like shooting, or 3D models that animates. This has been asked in the 3D thread before.

I have another question

Is it hard to create a website with the 001 website editor, and does the URL be example: shadowwarrior.engine001.com?

And about the e-mail Can you recieve e-mail from for example a regular e-mail like Gmail etc.?

1) There is no editor. Its just a server... an FTP Account... so like you MANUALLY make the html's or use a program to make them... And yes, that would be the URL..

2) Its just a forwarding email. So like, if you send an email to Mr.Numbers@engine001.com , it would actualy send it to Enternamehere@hotmail.com Or Gmail.com or w/e ones there are.

No, the program shows a preview of the HTML, just like Frontpage. Then you just insert stuff. What you see is what you get.

Let's get back on topic.

I suggest getting KompoZer for making the website. I used it to make mine and it's pretty easy once you find a tutorial.

This month, subscribers are shortly getting the new parallax backgrounds and foreground features.

Next month will be mouse support.

Well it'd be kinda silly for the player to be able to click open a dresser from 20 tiles away.

It's up the game creator to do things they want to setup. Most games would have the player walk to the object before.

That's a bit like Flash; don't you think?
Nonetheless, what else can a mouse do? Will it be possible that it can even be used for character control itself (e.g. moving a 'character' with a mouse)?

Would this be moving Engine 001 into having more of an RTS possibility then? :D

Because I was planning on making a Sims game. But I was just going to have it where you control one Sim using the keyboard. XD

If you have enough timers without lags or gameplay crashes, I'd say it's possible.

Well if there was a switch you needed to activate but you had to disable a force feild first then you could just click on the switch without disableing the force feild. Ok so thats not really range but if you replace the force feild with a boss fight that needs to happen first you have the same problem.

I hope that there will be mouse events for almost every type of object, then the system would be perfect for a adventure games. And... uh... menus. Oh, and a game focusing around psionics or various other supernatural powers! :D

Just 2 quick questions about this subscription thing

1) If I subscribe and get 3D for 3 months, and my project takes 4 months, will I still be able to do 3D for the last month?

2) If I subscribe right now, will I get mouse support?

1. Yes, but you wont get the newest 3D beta if one comes out in the fourth month, which then you should subscribe again or just go back to the normal version. (or you wont get much support for boogs and errors and what not.)

2. No.

It's mentioned on the subscribe page:

"Subscriptions will always take effect for full months. For this reason, the subscription will begin the 1st of the coming month and span the full months as the subscription is paid."

So if you pay on the 2nd, your subscription won't start until "the 1st of the coming month".

Black Probation Name overwrites Golden Subscriber Name. Lord Cohliani was proof of this.

So no, he's not probationed.

You'll still have probation, but you'll get access to subscriber stuff.
Hey, mouse support ain't bad, m0n!
And another question: You're going to be using the default cursor on your desktop for the 'mouse', or can you make your own nutty designs?

I think we can. That's even one of the easiest things in vb6 to add a custom mouse cursor.

VB6 mouse cursors have nothing to do with this.

The plan for cursor support is to be able to use an effect for it. This will pave the way for point+click adventure games, where you could make it so when you right-click, it could switch between Walk, Talk, Look, Touch, or whatever you really want.

Ah, similar to Daggerfall heh heh. I'd love making a game like that with 3D and mouse support.

BOOYA :) but here is a question for my game, because mouse support kinda inspired the basic gameplay... can I zoom in/zoom out with the scrool bar, and can I right click and make the character move there? so it is just a 1 click motion?

I guess that zones will get these new triggers: Left-clicked on zone, Right-clicked on zone, Mouse over zone. Characters might get the same as zones.

You get a full month regardless of when you do, so don't worry about that. If you do it past the end of this month, you may have to wait another month. Point is, sooner the better ;).

The logistics are still being figured out. And even then, it's just a beta, so there's still room for improvement.

I hope that we can use the mouse to aim with guns. That would make it much easier to aim. Then we can shoot almost as good as the AI does now.

Maybe not 'best' in terms of overall design, but best in accessibility and easy usage. If I'm not mistaken the descriptions of 001 said 'no prior scripting language knowledge needed'.
And lately, with frequent inceptions of new features, this engine can really do wonders. I'm not being politically correct here.

This engine definitely can't do what some of the major commercial engines can do. And there's still things it lacks that other makers can do fine. But it will get in a happy medium over time, that's for sure.

Anyway, back on topic ;).

Well, Engine001 is in constant development, so, I guess in about 5 to 10 years, 001 may be better than most of the commercial engines and other game makers.

And yes:

Possible, but I still have no idea how to do that. I'm no good with the Geometry functions.

It's rather simple: You could use Sine, Cosine and Tangent to do that. But don't ask me how, I learnt this in math lessons 2 years ago and I have never needed it since then.

The past two months have been new resources made by Pierre and by K-Pone - both of these you already have - though the music, everyone now has ;).

This month's beta will involve something called dynamic triggers, which will change the way we work with triggers. That's the big thing.

It will also feature spell checker, the editor enhancements, and save game slot events for custom save/load interfaces, auto-saves and checkpoints.

It's our own triggers. So you can make a trigger for everytime you get money for example. Or everytime you enter a car.

No, it's a more generalized trigger system. Basically, instead of "this object was touched by any character", you'll be able to do "this object was touched by a character in the team 'Bob' and has a hat 'Regular Hat' ".

They'll be quite optimized, and may lead to other features like you suggested. But yeah, still work in progress.

So we basically can narrow down our triggering events to something highly specific without the usage of too many script nodes?

Yup. Which provides speed improvements. Also will be way easier to see how things connect quicker.

That, and all those specific triggers will be more generalized... So, you can say "touched by a playable character or a non-playable character" - instead of having two different triggers like it is now.

So in the coming little while, these are the following new subscription features:

-custom title (I'm sure you've seen them around)
-todo list (being able to know some of the features that will come out in the future, way before anyone else even knows it might happen)
-promoting your game (having your game show up at a higher frequency on the front page of the site)

Will this be standardized for all shops or can we have a custom interface for different shops?

You could already script a shop, but this will most likely make it easier with new values. You will be able to customise the interface however you like. It is basically just the same as making a HUD ;)

I mean, can we make one interface for one kind of shop and for another kind, use a different form of interface?

The system passes you onto an interface you specify, so you can make it as customized as you want. Most likely you'd want to just keep it to one kind of shop though ;). Or make a copy of it and make a custom event for a special kind of shop. Really, this isn't anything new, but it is forcing the introduction of a few features, like text word-wrapping, to be implemented, so making the shop and inn is easier to do.

Well, you can actually do that in 1.6, but 1.7 makes it much easier.

You shouldn't worry, you have access to this feature right now ;).

And no, not a specific size persay, but a mono-spaced font, where you can mathematically calculate the words' widths.

Next month there'll be support for the new terraformation for walls, and features generally geared towards making platformer games a lot easier.

In addition, there's customization of almost everything, including editing the way the door code works, locked doors, and leveling up - all completely customizable.

With Mike's permission, I will post this screenshot of a supporting feature towards Platformer Games.
Transparency.png
Based on three different layers, red being the background, and green being the foreground, I am able to scroll through these layers and insert objects on each desired layer. In the picture, I have the middle layer selected, as can be seen by the non-transparent tiles.
And you don't have to stop at just three layers, you can make as many as you want!
You will be able to see this more clearly in the video I am making, which should be released within the week.

Hmmm... Just a quick question about this, All of the steps would be considered different levels right? So will you guys tie these "Levels" With the 360 directional 1 plane (2 plane if you count jumps) RPG maker that we all know and love?

Correct. The levels run along the Z axis.

The four angles you can switch to within the map editor will be:
-Standard 45° (The default we know and love ;))
-Top (Preferably for top down games)
-Front (For platformer games)
-3D Perspective (Speaks for itself)

Now that we have up and downs (platforms) will we make platforms in the current RPG 001. (The one currenlt available) Will we have steps and stuff there? It seems really easy. If we jump onto a trash can, our character is kind of on level 2, So why can't we just make a "taller trash can" to make for level 3, 4, 5 and whatever else. It can't be all that hard, but you can't really spawn characters ontop of a big garbage. It will spawn behind it. So what I mean is, will we get levels for regular 001 ever?

I made that in 3 seconds. Each tile you see on the screen is in fact ONE 32x32 wall tile with terraformation. As one wall tile is stacked on top of another, the two merge together to form a taller platform.
But I have a bad feeling I have still not answered your question...
Ardor wrote:but you can't really spawn characters ontop of a big garbage
You can position characters wherever you want on the Z axis. You can make them spawn in mid-air if you wanted.
Ardor wrote:will we get levels for regular 001 ever?

By levels, I assume you mean the Z axis maybe? Your question is still very confusing sorry.

Regular non-platformer games do have a Z-axis, but believe me when I say it's kinda hard to see. You'll need to define the height(in 1/2 tiles) in the tilesets individually for the various 'levels' you make.
Platformers simply omit the usage of the Y axis so all you have is X and Z.

Or with Front View, which I have demonstrated through previous pictures ;) That just displays the X (>>>) axis and the Z (^^^) Axis. The Y-Axis is not visible, which is where the layers come in.

Ok I think I understand how you are confused with my question.

Level: A value of height. Level 1=ground Level 2=1 step up (Z-axis) Level 3=2 steps up and so on.

A platformer game has many levels, whether they be negative or positive. Our regular 001 has 8 (X, Y) directions. Platformers have only 2 (X, Y) directions. But platfomers have levels (Stairs) so will you ever develope levels for regular 001. Like I said you could jump on a trash can (Or whatever) And that is like level 2 for platformer games. so will you make "stepable" level for regular 001?

By regular 001 you mean "non-platformer" or "45-degree angle". You can already make steps within this. Haven't you ever jumped onto one of Pierre's tables with your character?

Exactly! But with that in mind, it seems like what I want is already possible. Can the people spawn on the table? And can you make "Larger tables" for more than 1 step?

Yes, this is possible, but only the bottom tile needs to have the height set to it. People can spawn on the table by altering the Z in the Position Character event.

As I told subscribers, and would like everyone to know, primary beta testing has gone fairly well. Wolf Hunt and Voyage for Vengeance, have been and are still being tested to nail out final compatibility issues. Other games have been tested as well. This next version is going to be big for everyone, and subscribers will be the first to get their hands on it :).

Actually, thinking of employing a Choose Price for downloading the next version of 001, where "0.00" is acceptable. The Donate feature failed miserably in the past, and having some awareness that this project (and my living expenses) are funded in great part to subscriptions and advertisements.

The idea is for the main download. There'd be a "Download for Free" button and a "Download for Donation" button, is all. Like I said, it's just to raise awareness and try the donation thing again.

New beta should be out tonight for all subscribers. This will be the final beta before 1.8 is out to the world and the web-site is changed.

Thanks to those who've subscribed, you've really made this version in particular possible! Without your funding, a series of professional artists wouldn't've been able to dedicate their time to completing this for everyone.

in that case you wouldn't have the beta too. There's an internal beta for the beta testers (or alpha testers), the subscription beta for the subscribers and the translators, and there's a public release for everybody.

An excel spreadsheet the looks like a rubics cube would be a 3 dimensional array. Each spreadsheet stacked on another would be 1 step in the z direction. So, in effect, Z is sheet 1, sheet 2, sheet 3.

Think microsoft excel. Tables are 2 or 3 diminsional arrays for those of you who know what that is lol.

a two diminsional array is just your avrage excel worksheet. X axis and a Y axis

A three diminsional array is like giving a cell depth to excel. X axis, Y axis, and Z axis.

for example, I'm using 2 2d arrays. my x axis is what wave the player is on, and the y acceess is the name of the mob that needs to be spawned. So my table would look something like this if it was visualized.

Code: Select all
     x1         x2         x3         x4
y1   Pb0      Pb0        br0        bl0

y2   Pb0      Pb0       br0        br0

y3    Pb0     br0        br0         br0

y4     Pb0    br0        br0         br0

pb = poor bandit
br = bandit recruit
bl = bandit leader

So if I tell my spawn actor event to spawn the actor at x2 y3 z1, it knows I'm talking about bandit recruit 0, and that's what it spawns.

that's a 2 diminsional array. A three diminaional would have a z axis (which I'm actually thinking about using to make a new feature in my game....)

I use 1 single spawn actor event to spawn 16 enimies of different types over 4 different waves.

I say spawn wave one, it spawns all characters in the x1 column. I don't have to worry about spawning them individually.
If I need to chagne what spawns, I simpley modify the event that makes the table. I don't have to dig through to find the one mob that I want to change

as tabula said, make a table that has a bunch of different rewards depending on how many of the side quests you did before you got there. the x is how many quests, the y is the different items. so if they did 2 quests, it pulls the item from x2, y(random1,5), z1 and gives it to the character

Okay, that's a very specific use. Other specific uses include generating a mini-map and having it produce the result on an interface. Or a tic-tac-toe game where the state of each square is recorded on a table.

People often take it for granted that 001 manages so much for us, that often primitive things like tables aren't needed. But if you're wanting to develop a specific system outside of 001, that is where it becomes appropriate.

So, sure, you could get the locations of O's and X's in a tic-tac-toe game to determine who won and valid locations. Or you could put the state in a table and simplify your code greatly.

A thing i was reading about and witch i mostly consider a possible subscribtion for is the Mouse feature mentioned here: http://www.engine001.com/beta.htm

What exactly can you do with the Mouse besides using Menues trough it?

You can do whatever you want to do with it. You just need to know how to implement it. To give you some examples of what you could do: You could do aiming with the mouse, point'n'click adventure like movement, menu navigation as you already said, move a light around (like a flashlight), and much more.

Is that like an Option, like the Scripts, to choose or does that (as i fear :-P ) need some coding?

aiming with the mouse: fairly easy
point'n'click adventure like movement: requires a bit of coding, but this is being simplified soon
menu navigation: also requires coding, but there'll be a dynamic trigger for it soon (see the blog)
move a light around: fairly easy

But really, you should try to base the subscription on the idea that you're supporting the project, and get the opportunity to help out and contribute feature requests. And in return, you get access to these benefits.

That is how i do see it. That is why i bougth Minecraft (if you have heard of it ^_^) and that is one reason why i really ask for that.

However, times are thigt on me rigth now as i am shure that i am not the only one nowadays and everything that i decide to spend here is to take from an other point of my life so i have to evaluate.
And ten Bucks a month are, to be honest, quite a price to count with.
As an comparison, for the ten Bucks i will spend on this, Ilimilo on XBoxLive Arcade has to wait. ^.^

But consider me sold on it, althougth you have to wait a bit till you get prove for that. ^.^

It's likely that would work on the paypal system, and would have less of a tax on it (for my sake) - but yeah, if it doesn't work on paypal, I'm sure the new method works with it ;).

Visa gift cards work like regular credit cards, except you can't go over your balance and get pinned with extra charges. They also cost like 6 bucks extra.

wellll everyone, seeing as how i've tried the whole visa giftcard thing (mine was a Westcor visa) before the whole pre-paid thing, no it didn't work like a normal card. You can't use it with paypal mike told me it was waiting to be authorized or something like that and i couldnt authorize it through paypal it was asking me to enter the 6 digit number on my next bank letter. and ummm PRE PAID gift card....yaaaa...ummm...i don't think i get a bank letter on those...

Sorry forgot to mention you can only use the SET AMOUNT cards($25, $50, $100) in the US. Maybe the fact Mike's in Canada has something to do with it.

You can buy reloadable Visas which you can put any amount on to use anywhere in the world. You have to activate those though. Those are the ones that have your name on it. I used to sell them and I have used them for over seas purchases before.

Yeah, the minimum is because this new system takes a flat amount. The use of PayPal is much preferred if you're able to do, like you were doing before.

if I pay with my cellphone it'll just be for one month right? I plan to change my payment plan after this initial payment and just was wanting to make sure it was a one time charge and not recurring every month to my phone.

I pretty much have fallen in love with this engine and wouldn't mind supporting the growth of it at all. I just am strapped for cash this month it being the holidays and all. I can pay with my cellphone though and it won't charge me until the end of my billing cycle (next month when I have money woot!) So if it only charges for one month I'll be subscribing asap

Thanks

You'll have to contact them about it if you have specific questions about all the payment methods and whatnot. My understanding is things are only re-occurring if it states it as such. All that being said, there's always refunds ;) - though the new payment system does incur some penalty to provide said refunds, so it'd be best to confirm with them by e-mail just to make sure.

And, thank you greatly for contributing, it is well appreciated.

Hm it says Credit Card OR Pay Pal. Sadly i just found out i need a Credit Card for using Pay Pal wich i don't have cause i don't need it in my every day life.

I also have ONLY Pay Pal (i mean besides my Bank Account of course). X-P

EDIT:What i wanted to ask is if that is an mistake or intentional that you can only use Pay Pal with your Credit Card..

Why not use your bank card with the other system? The other system allows certain credit cards too. Credit Card/Paypal is only one of the two major options - read carefully ;).

I'm not really sure - it goes through PayPal if you do use a credit card. If you follow the steps, I believe you can set it up without it, but creating an account isn't hard either. Just click the subscribe button and follow the instructions and look for a way to do it without an account if you can.

I was going to sub for 3 mos. but it only lets you go for one or the year.
Nevermind I figured it out, I meant paying every three mos. but I figured it out.

Well I've decided I'm going to subscribe. I am just not sure I want to do it right now. There are so many benefits it seems stupid not to, but what is the future like? Do I spend it now and realize I should have waited one month for a new cool benefit? I don't know...

Here's a question for clarification: When I subscribe (let's say for one month) and my subscription expires, do I have to pay again to maintain the benefits (the 3D, multiplayer, etc., I know I will lost the forum benefits)? I am pretty sure I have asked this, but I want to be 100% sure.

You can keep your copy of the EXE, but obviously yes, once you stop subscribing, you won't get new versions with these features in it ;).

If you pay now, you get to play around with the new version now. But it really shouldn't be about that - should be about supporting the project and providing financial assistance to a project that lives off this money.

I subscribed to help the project, Beta was just a extra benifit to me. I love 001 and I want to see this go as far as possible.

However, I have the occassional canclations of my subscription due to my financial problems (Mainly saving for a car) but seeing as how I have 2 income's now, I don't think $10 a month is a big deal. i mean ya if you sub for 2 years the ending amount is $240, big amount, but I think of the big picture, thats $240 thats allowing this project to proceed.

Like I said, beta is just an extra to me, I want to see this go far.

Databases contain information. They can be accessed with the current beta for the subscribers. And because the database can be on a server in the internet, so online games with engine001 are now possible in some way.

If you used UltimatePay, could take a few days. It'd be best to contact them if you have specific inquiries about the transaction itself. Once UltimatePay tells us that it's received, we're immediately notified.

Server is needed. This is a feature that will never leave subscription/paid.

If you just want to store some values, use the Save Setting event and Load Setting use value in the existing version of 001 ;).

mySQL support is mearly for things such as leaderboards, Maybe a cool stock exchange (Already can be done, but it could be cooler if everyone pays the same price ;)), Battle other players (Like it spawns there character with AI then u gotta kill them, information retrieved from database), Login System, Ability to retrive actual server time so the game reacts like a specific time zone (Turns to day when its 7:00 in the morning, Turns to night when its 8:00 at night, etc.) (Also think animal crossing)

The possibilites are ENDLESS! You could bring your game OUTSIDE OF 001 and onto a login system with more features and even PAY TO PLAY advantages!

It really is a super powerfull feature and alows you to do stuff you never knew you could ;)

So if you own a mySQL server, and knows what they are doing, this could make a real kickass game. 8)

I know this has been mentioned many times before but I couldn't find it. If I subscribe will I still be able to use the subscription version of 001Game Creator after the subscription wares off? (as I don't really have the money for more than a 1 month subscription). And is the pushable objects and multiplayer part of the subscription or is it still a work in progress :?:

So far, the next beta will feature custom fonts, audio features, new item projectile options, and particle effects enhancements.

Subscribers also got a sneak peak at some new demos that will come with 001, and they'll be the first ones to test them out upon release :D.

So if you are planning to sell your game, I urge people to keep a backup of the beta001.exe. If for some odd reason you uninstall it or have to re-do your computer, that way you can always sell your game using that version.

No in the font selection you can view all the letters that go with the font name but there is no way to add your own or customize the ones that are already there.

Because you can totally download a font from the internet, import to your font folder then create a new font within 001... *confused*

There is a font folder in windows that contains all of the fonts you have on your pc. This is the folder that you place downloaded fonts in. This is also the folder that 001 draws from.

Go to the fonts editor in 001. See the dropdown box labeled "Font Face"? If you download a font and put it in the correct folder(should be C:\windows\fonts) it will show up in that list.

Oh I see what you're saying now... seeing as 001 draws its fonts from the main font folder, I don't think that's very practical.

That makes it possible for you to create custom events with multiple branches. That's like having a Message Box node with multiple choices. It also has multiple branches, and that can be used for your custom events as well. As of now you can only have custom events with one branch.

It's a custom event that can have multiple endings you can connect other nodes to, such as you can with the Comparison Branch.

still haven't seen it :'(

On the other hand, custom event branches will make very complicated boss beginning/endings very simple. Also alternate endings, too.

Yes!

It makes enemies with multiple parts so easy to make. 8D

(Using this+beta I was able to make 3D objects with ease using chunks of 2D images. Tested only squares currently but of course anything is possible with work and motivation)

Help with Subscription

Postby Dasttann777 » Fri Mar 23, 2012 11:49 pm

I am not a Subscriber, but I am seriously thinking about it, but I have one question. I am planning on making a website for my Game, which will give Information on it. Do I need to Subscribe to be able to upload my Game for people to play for FREE? I mean, the Game is free, so I can upload it without subscribing, can I?

You can upload your game to your site even with the free version, as long as you are not making any money off of it.

That being said, if you make a good enough game you can sell it ONLY if you are using the subscriber version.

So to answer your question, yes you can upload your game to your own site for free using either the public or subscriber version.

Subscribers were just given a sneak peak at the art for the new point-and-click adventure game template. With the increase in subscriptions lately, it was made easily possible. So, again, thank you subscribers for making this a possibility :).

One little question: How does paying by cash work? I'll probably have the money soon-ish, and I'm not too sure how that would work.

Well, you could load some cash on a paypal card and use that. You can find those all over the place, like 7-eleven or walmart.

It'd be way easier to just buy a Ultimate Game Card (you can get a $10 one off the playspan website ($20 one are the only ones sold in stores)) then just buy the subscription by entering the code they e-mail you.

The new subscription beta has a feature that allows you to see where errors are happening in your graphical scripts. You are quickly able to step through the events and branches, set points to break next time before an error happens, and other powerful features, making scripting far more enjoyable. Read more about it: http://www.engine001.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=23093

Subscribers are now able to test their games on iOS and Android for testing purposes :D.

A question for mobile devices (not sure if it's the right topic though)

What's the best resolution to use for android or ios devices? I don't my game to be too large or too small on handheld devices

Resolutions range from super duper tiny to absolutely massive :P The ideal thing to do is to make your interfaces work and look nice at any resolution. In the subscriber version there's features to help with this.

It's actually $10 a month, yes, if you pay for only one month and then cancel, then you'll still be credited and remain a subscriber for the days you paid for.
Your name and privileges go away at the end of the term, but if you downloaded a subscriber version, you get to keep it forever.

With the new subscriber version, this has changed. The subscription features also go away when your sub runs out(but canceling within the amount of time you paid for is ok). But now there is a 150$ lifetime option for a one time buy.

Hello! I'm new with this software and I am interested in buying the full version. Right now is possible to create an Android game with it and compile it? I ask this because in the subscribe page it does says "At this time, iOS and Android development is limited to testing only."

If so, I also would like to know how the game is created. I mean, the software automatically compiles it into .apk? Or do you have to compile it manually in a software like Intel XDK?

Regards.

see here http://www.engine001.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=21039 same question.
if there is an emulator it should work out of the box
make it an installable apk would be the smallest problem
signing apk's is another story.

so i can give you no clearly answer as im new here to
but subscribing means also supporting the dev
so he can get some food
and more power and will to get things done with 001
i will subscribe the next days
just because of that

another question
u need the feature now?
as gamedesign is mostly a long term process
the feature could be there before u even finished the game.

just give 001 a try

but its tru the Information confused me to .
i guess its a typo will fix it asap

That's great! Thanks for the information.

I love the software so far, it has great features and is easy to understand like RPG Maker :)

Anyway, I'll wait until there are more news about Android, because that's my current focus ;)

It is not currently possible to compile iOS or android games properly. Only testing is officially supported at this time.

'nemonix' makes a valid point that most people seem to forget - developing games can take a long time. So if you have a game you'd like to make for mobile devices, you already have all of the tools needed to get under way (in the Subscription version anyway) and by the time you've finished your game, chances are you'll be able to publish it ;).

iOS has some technical issues as of late. Android development is all that is supported, and is the only thing mentioned elsewhere. The only place was the title of this thread, which I removed just now. Sorry about that.
