Blue Pirateship Scene

Postby Dunce » Fri Nov 23, 2012 3:16 am

A pixeling I just did. I'd say it took a couple hours, but I'm not sure, maybe more.

Great use of palettes, shading and reflection. You might want to consider using dithering on the sky and the mountain, though.

Looks amazing. I'd like to see that jank in a game, like an adventure game.

Lol, I was actually a bit depressed when I made that. Not sure I have the will power to start on another game.

It's a pleasant style.

Edit: Lol, you guys might get your way. This could be including as a painting in a little test project I decided to work on.

Really nice scene. Doing entire pixeled scenes is difficult for me; so I especially like this one....

Ya scenes aren't something I've done that much at all, but keeping the color count down helps.

For me keeping the color count down is one of the main reasons this was cool for me. Reminds me of some waaaaaay old games i used to play when I was a kid.

A chance to compare below. (Not so much the single color aspect as low color counts in general.)

This is also an example of re-using tilesets. They
Don't match up exactly, but create an interesting
over all image. I was guilty of this when I was
working on Oculus.

Seen this one somewhere before.....

I don't know why his eyes are this color, but he
should probably stop doing that.....

Anyway, guess I'm a sucker for illustrating.... Well... Anything I possibly can, really. But your pic juxtaposed with these others is why I find it cool.
If someone told me it was from a classic Sierra game I would have believed it.

If only the colors weren't so bright back in the day. I guess they have to do that to make it look right on CRTs. Sort of like how the Zelda Oracle games are really bright because of the Gameboy Color's screen.

Heheh King's Quest, I think 4, is what that forest scene is from. Getting out kinda threw me first time.
Agree on the old Sierra game and his scene.
