Saddest Game Endings

Postby Inxth » Sat Aug 14, 2010 5:07 am

Well, they have the saddest movie endings topic, so I'll state out the Saddest Game Endings I've got... mmm... lemme see... Oh yes. Persona 3's ending was sad.

Haha, this thread is going to be pure spoils.
GTA IV has one of the saddest endings I've ever seen. :P
Same with Fallout 3 (without broken steel, the broken steel ending was lame).

Dude why the heck did you do that? You spoiled the ending...

I didn't tell how or why he died. -_- If you play P3 FES, you'd feel better about the whole thing because... well, I shouldn't spoil much more of it.

Fallout 3's ending can be hilarious depending on how you do it

I thought the evil one was pretty funny. I never did the neutral one before though.

Mafia II. The ending was very, very sad.

Oi. I wanted to get that...
...But then I saw a review of it. The part where it said "it felt like one long level" is what got me. Though, Mafia 1 left the same feeling, it had free mode, so it made it decent.
Breaks from the storyline are needed! :P

Zhuge, don't listen to the Mafia 2 reviews. They're really stupid. Trust me, their only complaint seemed to be "It's not Grand Theft Auto". They were complaining about how it was what it was... which isn't a complaint. Mafia 2 is a darn good Mafia 1 sequel. It's worth the buy.

Definitely, especially the IGN review. Mafia 2 was awesome form start to finish.

The sadest video game ending ever is in JakandDaxter, because you won't see the last truth behind the door, secounds before the camera scroll gets the right angel to look inside, the video is over.
*FUUUUUUUUUU~*

Oh well, Kingdom Hearts 1 also appeared to be sad for me, when I was younger.

I wasn't sad about it, but I was pissed at the ending of Oblivion. All that work... Worthless. :P

I'll have to give it a try then. :)

Based on what ending you get, Cavestory can be sad too.

The only sad part about it was how much it sucked. So anti-climactic.

The rest of the game was great though.

Anyway, there is NO topping it, Walking Dead has by far the saddest ending ever, to anything ever. EVER.

Nice thread find.

DA:O, only because I grew attached to the characters. Can't believe they screwed up the sequel, not even looking forward to DA3.

It made me feel sad because I really liked Joe :(
He was easily the the best character in the entire game.

Yeah I liked him too(isn't there DLC where you can play as him?) but the ending just felt rushed and abrupt. I literally said WTF and was pissed.

What really pissed me off about Mafia II was that it was literally 1940s Driving Simulator. There was supposedly a huge city out there, and you weren't allowed to explore a damn thing besides what the mission wanted you to explore. Drive here, cutscene, Drive over there, cutscene, shoot a few guys, do a menial task, then leave in your car and go somewhere. UGH.

Yeah what was the point of introducing side missions when you could never do them? IE the chop shop. I was never once able to do those side missions after they were introduced. Definitely not a sandbox. I liked it for what it was though. I've definitely played worse games.

The most saddest game ending would be Final Fantasy 8 for me. I can't believe that Rinoa or Leon will die upon your choice, but it makes sense for plot reasons. Actually, I still find it sad that Leon and Squall never knew about their blood relations, etc. Overall, the experience really draws on your pathos from the beginning until you realize that their plot twist is just bizarre anyways.

Halo:Reach, I never thought I would be weeping while destroying the covenant
And the Ashes to Ashes trailer for Gears 3... for some reason the dramatic undertones and knowing what the characters have gone through along with the amazing song choice of Heron Blue just obliterates any feelings of happiness lol

All the Gears campaign were godly. Movie-like I dare say. While the ending itself wasn't sad, it's plagued with despair and moments of no hope.

I thought the ending of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers was really sad too. We just saved the world, and now my little Pikachu partner has to sit and watch as I fade away into nothing.
