Pit? There are many pits, does double jump not work? I can go from beginning to end with out issue. Are you talking about the very end? The very large pit? Because there are two arrows that point down into it.

Hmm. Was quite interesting. I like the atmosphere.

But it did lack a story, so I don't know what to think.

Well, if you do stuff in the main story you can unlock other stories, this may only be fixed for my version but if you hit esc or right before you end the main, return to the menu using the button and then hit new game, it will show you the other stories you have found.

Lives would just make you need to restart. And checkpoints are hard to script. Just save game.

Thats the kind of attitude that won't get anyone anywhere, I though that was kind of rude in an odd way.

Checkpoint:

Make a variable.

Name it Checkpoint.

Add a zone (say be each of those arrow signs) and assign it a variable.

Make another variable, the purpose of thsi one will be to see if the player has died after touching the checkpoint, and until he reaches another. ;)

Comparison branch to check.

If so, respawn at the last zone or "checkpoint".

There it is in a nutshell, some steps that i felt self explanitory were left out, need clarification, PM me. ;)

I'll possibly put them in, my main question is why don't people use the savegame function? It's essentially a checkpoint you can place anywhere.

Update: Found out that my autosave system freezes on load, so I can't use that as a middle ground for checkpoints.
And the only problem with your Script RPGking is that if the player dies how does it know where to respawn? zones don't have and accessible X,Y,Z, axis to grab values from.

What do you mean freezes? Is there a bug with it? Mind sending yet another report ;)? Looking at your others at the moment.

By the way, zones have left/right/top/bottom/front/back (x1,y1,z1,x2,y2,z2) access.

I think all you want to do is when you touch the zone, you record the current player's location is all. Or just use Save Game and Load Game - possibly best to create a new topic so we can go into more detail and so more people can learn.

simple checkpoint sistem...

Make 2 new variables Player X and Player Y

Make a zone and put 2 variable operations

Set Player X = Char.("main").X

Set Player Y = Char.("main").Y

Now, To respawn the player, just go to the char death trigger, and make a comparison branch to see if you have enought continues.

If yes position Character

Map "Main"

Char:"main"

X= click on the small square, select the global variables and then the select the: Player X

Y= click on the small square, select the global variables and then the select the: Player Y

I think this should work....

so far most of your games have proven your worth and talent as a sleek game designer, but if you could just hammer down those sprite animations your games would be much better.

Yeah, I do understand where your coming from, one I could get more sprites to make the sprite animation smoother but, I will not increase the details on them because that's just not my style.

For the next version be sure to look for the new animations in Running, Jumping, Dying, and Interacting (If I can get that to work).

Thanks but Sorry, all of the work on my games is done by me. Other than brainstorming stories and characters, I occasionally go for help.

Update: Due to spriting issues, new running sprites are delayed, and in the future may be canceled.
Checkpoints will not be in the next version due to issues.

-Update 2: Anyone want more content for this game? I have essentially filled the story menu, and I am unsure if I should continue or if I should stop.

-Or should I just make gameplay oriented only missions.

Btw, for the checkpoints system you could do it using the following:

(Using global variables X, Y, Z, Map)

When player enters zone (Checkpoint), make variable X,Y,Z, Map = CharX, CharY, CharZ, Map_Scripting_Id (Current map, so like field 1 or w/e).

On player killed scripts

(Play whatever effects/messages here, revive character, position character on Map_Scripting_Id, X, Y, Z)

Done! Thats all it takes :3

You can also use a once branch on the zone to only alow the checkpoint to be used once.

(Havent played game yet, may download sometime in the future! Looks interesting)

Sadly as of Right now Checkpoints are a no because the map has to be reset if you come through it again. This issue has caused a plethora of scripting complexity that is more than just, place character here.

As for the Main story, it is done. That's the entirety of it.

And for the ladder thing. I really don't know what to say, if going up to hit and hitting jump many times doesn't work then your issue is the only case of this.

I'd like to see more story development. As it is, the main story mission has no dialog, and we have no reason why we are in this world.

It doesnt have to have dialog right away, cause it does make it mysterious, but it does need something a some point that tells us what is going on.

Perhaps you could no whats going on by using the other stories to figure it out. That's what the point was. Besides dialogue is needless in this game when you are the only one. I understand the "why am I here?" and the "What do I do?" Part of figuring that out is supposed to be rewarding. If it's directional trouble the arrow signs are supposed to orient players.

Well, my philosphy is that having the main character speak just puts words in the players mouth. Essentially the platformer character default is supposed to be filled with your personality and reactions. I don't like defining the main character. As for goals. I really can't think of a logical reason why your character would go running and jumping around tall ruins. It is mostly implied that your are trying to hide from the attacking monsters.

One of my favorites along with Planetbound, Wolf Hunt, Shmalloween and some others.

Did I ever tell you you are my favorite game maker? (Aar'anoor, Planetbound and Abandoned are just great).

Also, please don't add enemies.
