Homeless

Postby Lucifiend » Tue Jul 06, 2010 10:57 pm

I'm currently without home at the moment. Anybody have a spare refrigerator box that will fit a family of 5? Anyway, I'll still look through the forums, but I won't have access to any of my game files (since, for whatever reason, 001 doesn't run on my laptop). So, I'm not entirely away, but I'm definitely less productive. Hopefully I'll have a new home in a couple of weeks. Depends how house hunting goes...:P

I'm sorry. Hope your search goes well. And I hope the search does not end in refrigerator box.

Sounds terrible, and you're a family of 5? Hope it goes well for you!

The box only has to be big enough for me and the wife, the kids can sleep on the sidewalk.

 Somebody loves their kids.
I'll do you a better one, you can have a flat air-mattress, like the one I'm sleeping on. :D
Though, In all seriousness, hope things work out for you and your family.

oh man I'm sorry to here that buddy. I'll pray for you. In the meantime could you contact the base? I thought they take care of military families. Could they help you get somewhere?

I hope for the best, but there's a military program that should help. Anyways, happy house hunting and you'll be in my prayers, dude! :]

Moving around isn't too big of a deal, er, unless you're moving to D.C. :? Normally you get 8 days to search for a house and of course we have resources through the base. Luckily we have friends in the area that are loaning their finished basement to us. Better than chunking out a ton of money to hotels. We've located a home, but now we've got to wait for the lease signing and household goods (meaning, my real computer. Not this tore up laptop). Hopefully in a week or so I won't be a vagabond anymore.

Got my household goods all moved in and have the worst of it unpacked (12,000 lbs!) The only thing that ended up broke you ask? Because you know something had to get broke. My computer. They were kind enough to stick it in a box without any label (they were confused since I built it, it had no serials, so I guess no serials, no special care). Until I figure out how to heal my desktop I'm still stuck on this tore up laptop.

Oh...I'm sorry! :[ That totally sucks, and the worst part is, you can't blame them for it, especially with that kind of situation, where they don't know what it was, no labels, no special case, break it, oh we didn't know. Next time, if you can, grab a perment marker and mark your boxes yourself, or if you could have, make a list, so you didn't forget anything or lost something. Anyways, you would probably have an easier move next time! :D I'm glad you guys are okay though! :D

I guess I freaked too soon. After a bit, I pulled every cable out of the system and put it back together. It was just a loose wire, because now it works! I had previously tried checking connections, but with all the guts in the way it was hard to see what I had checked and what I missed. I really didn't want to claim a broken computer to the moving company since they use depreciation on it. So my $2000 computer probably would become $1200. On the flip side it would been a good excuse to upgrade...

Nice. But no, I'm making my kids stay in it for a "character building" exercise.
