Christmas Town

It's that wonderful magical time again, so I felt like making a game about it. I am working on a story, and I have already made one object, the dreaded snowball, and imported a cane. Below are some screens of the maps. And yes, there will be a Santa sprite.

So far, a man who is conflicted, he must discover the true meaning of Christmas. This will take him to awkward places, and even more awkward characters. It will be a short game though, unless you guys want it longer.

Sweet maps, and I think that idea of a day/night transition is really, REALLY good.
Haven't seen one so far.

I didn't play it because I think that was when I thought anything over 20mb was 'big' to download on dial up ;) hah, i'm currently downloading a 622mb file ;) and it has done 500mb

Can you tell us in more detail how day/night transition works? Is it based on actual gameplay time?

Perhaps you've never read those old topics related to it. In fact, there is loads of topic covering specifically that, possibilities, how to do it, discussing it and how it would work. In any case, there isn't a change sun script, which is the problem. But it sure is possible.

That is the only current way to do it using one map (not 2, one for day, 1 for night) That way does work, it is in one of my games not out yet but blocks and walls can affect the looks of it.

Okay... sounds interesting, though you could use dark light and switch it from gray to black (colored light) if you want a more realistic night effect.

It's a short game, and there are no walls, all of it is lower tiles, so don't worry about off light effects, I'll post more screenies later on.

Sounds cool lol, a christmas game. I must note, I like the custom sprites in all your games, they all look very profesional

If you zoom in on the windows, you can see a girl (on the bottom story) sitting, pstairs theres in the left window, a tree, and in the right one, a little boy getting exited and spastic. I tried a shard as I could to make it warm. And Cameron, to me, the look and feel of the game, are EVERYTHING! Sometimes, I don't even play it if the graphics or map construction aren't good. I shouldn't be so quick to judge!

Heres how day/night works, I timer on every map (copy/paste) when the tmer reaches the end the prescibed time, the dark light in the level comes on, its not black, its grey, it gets darker as another time clicks to make it darker, the other lights are already on, saves half the work and time.

Could I recommend a slight simplification?
Instead of putting a different timer on every map, why not use one timer in the HUD?

But Rpgking is this game going to be a fighting game or a villaging game or what, I don't really know where your coming from with it. But anyways the idea of making a christmas game is awsome.

You play as a hobo called no-name, every year, Christmas passes and you are lone. You wonder, why can't I have y on Christmas. So No-Name sets out on a journy (roughly a 25 minute one) that will take him from Christmas Town, altheway to the North Pole, there will be only one vehicle you can drive, the trash can. You can also throw snowballs, hit with canes and giant candy canes. YOU CANNOT KILL! You can hurt but cannot kill, anyway, No Name will find out the true meaning of Chritmas. Hope that clears up a tiad bit.

Bad News Guys, the game may not be released until after Christmas, this saddens me. The games day/night function won't be there due to RunTime Error Type 39 up the wazoo, the position caharcter script does not work for when you transport to antoher map, I made a custom vehicle but whenever you get in it it says RunTime Error, all my other games work fine...not this one though. If you want to see another game by me, look at the World Of Heroes forum, thats the one I will be mainly working on.
