Shplot

Postby metomunc » Sun May 10, 2009 12:36 am

This is a little exploring project that I did with platformer styling. The story is simple: You are Shplot. You want to catch Dot. It really can't get much simpler. As far as what Shplot and Dot are, is up to you to decide. I am really unsure of what they are supposed to yet either. Your pursuit of Dot takes you through many perilous places, but you are always completely oblivious to your surroundings. All that matters is the shiny red glowing thing that hovers around-- always just out of reach.

I downloaded it, will play it now and tell you about it tomorrow.

It's so good, I just had to come on to post about it :D

This is the first game in quite some time (well, I haven't downloaded many games for a while) which I got no lag with and was really fun and enjoyable. Everything was great; map design, game play, the graphics, just everything.

I really like this game. I got up to the level where you fall down, I died and when it 'backed up' I was in the very left side so I couldn't go to the next level at the end or get back into the middle.

At the start of new levels your health should be refilled and maybe we need slightly more health, not too much more but a bit more.

Although the story is small, I really like it, it's very effective :D

Great job, I gave it 9/10, very very close to a ten.

AWESOME! I love the graphics and the weapons and enemys. It's GREAT!

The one thing is that it gets really frustrating when you have to go back to the very start EVERY TIME YOU DIE but other that that, Great! 9/10 :D

I'm glad there was a positive reaction to this. I don't think it'll be very long, but one thing that I might implement that will make it different from typical Mario platformers is the ability to choose different paths as you get farther in the game. The final product will not be very long, but fun non-the-less.

I'm quite impressed. The thing with your games is creativity - Something which I quite lack.

What I did like was the idea of a simple game. This game very much seeks a young audience, it's for all ages. You could make it a multiplayer or a family game for that sake, but let's not get too complicated. I also loved the flawless graphics and the sounds were very notable.

What I didn't like was that you had to teleport all the way back to start. It doesn't affect the player in the early stages, but the last one did very much. I didn't like either that the bats would follow your back at the last level - Lower their moving speed so they won't get stuck behind you. Combine those to disadvantages and the game seemed to be very hard. And, if you do seek a younger audience, you might want to lower the difficulty, or at least adjust it.
