Peppy's Rebellion

Postby Peppy2006 » Sun Nov 15, 2009 12:53 am

ATTENTION! You can find the game HERE.

NOTE: Assistance IS available upon request! PM me with a detailed description on where you are, and what the problem is, and I'll help you out.

A game I've been working on in the dark for a while...

The year is 2011. The president of Peppy's military division decides to retire, and a new leader steps in. But... Something isn't right about this one... He begins his speech with how America's government is bad... And switches it with a fake vote. Peppy's whole branch is cut, and armed terrorists storm the small building where the speech is being held. Peppy is no longer with the military. He is a rebel. And he sets out to stop this madman... Before it's too late...

Features:

A few custom things (Much of the game is defaults, because I'm a bad artist.)
Tanks! Drivable, shootable, Tanks! (Something "Peppy's Return" lacked)
Traps! Set some C4 at a choke-point, and blow it up after your enemies have stepped near it.
An odd cast of Bosses. Ranging from a abnormally large tank, to a screwed up computer.
The typical Peppy humor.
Returning characters, along with many new ones.

1.jpg

TANKS!!!

2.jpg

C4. (Not the greatest screenshot)

3.jpg

Sniping... Very handy!

4.jpg

C4!!! Good demonstration...

And a video, which says more than a thousand screenshots combined!

(Mind you, that's the old HUD design. New one has a better health bar.)

I've always loved your games, even with the save game bug in Peppy's Return. I can't wait to see how this will turn out!

Love the concept, but your maps still have too little customs, particularly for tiles and environments. I know this has a somewhat classic feel to your game, but it's a little overused already; care to work on the graphics please? I think it would turn out excellent if it was improved graphic-wise.

Every game doesn't need customs, and frankly they're not overused. They're there for the purpose of being used in the first place for people who aren't good artists. :P
Honestly, what's the point of having defaults if you're recommending that people don't use them heh. :P

I'm not saying that you can't use defaults. I'm saying that using 100% defaults, if not mostly default-based graphics won't be entirely appropriate for the game he is making. At the very least, the tilesets doesn't seem appropriate. Would be nice to change it.

It worked for all of his games before, and they all turned out great. :P
I don't see how it's not appropriate though.

Most of his games involve a lot of combat. I'm not saying it's bad to have grass all over the place, just that without some custom objects it's just kinda plain. For one or two of his games, that's fine. But it gets a little drab after too many games.
Not that I want to argue with you.

It's just out of respect for those who aren't good artists. He even says that. If they use all defaults, so be it.
All of his game came out fine, it's just a matter of how you use them, and I'd say he's doing a pretty good job of designing.

Ah, you've finally let the cat out of the bag about this game.
I was waiting...

I can see the TV ads...
"This year...a hero returns to save the day...Peppy's Rebellion...In stores (Insert date here)"

Can't wait to play it. And who cares about the graphics. As long as there is interesting gameplay. Try to take a twist on combat. There have been some good outcomes from other users lately with boss fights and etcetera.

Yes, indeed, love the battles, but the bosses could be spiced up a bit in this one.

Bosses are different with this. They actually feel and look like bosses. ;) They're not just some random guy with like 200 hp. I guess I could show you all the first boss...

Well, the walls could have greater diversity in height, instead of a uniform height, and they could be a bit darker. Ground could use more variations in grass and dirt color, plus a few more objects... but I'll play through it and give my full review.

He actually died bro, he's being serious - he's not in any mood to make anymore games. :P

Heehee, that's completely coincidental. Buddy is a dachshund in my games. He too, is real. ;)

Heh, yeah. Entirely different dogs. ;)

Back on the topic of the game, however, yes, it's my last one most likely. Yes, there may be a few updates... And I'm absolutely sure I'm pretty much done making games for quite some time, until I get inspired again.

Just started the boot camp, and heard the theme of Metal Slug 1's first stage.

At that moment, I experienced true love for the first time in my life.

Then I saved and the game crashed.

At that moment, my heart broke.
I am bacon.

Fry me in grease and put me on a plate covered in paper towels when you're ready to serve.

 It makes heavy use of Metal Slug music. Fitted the best. ;) And the save games... Eek... That's beyond my ability to fix... :( We'll have to wait until 1.7 comes out and then, I'll reload this game onto here. ;)

Oh, and this is getting a bit offtopic, but an idea for a theme song for the game:

Soundtrack To The Rebellion
I am bacon.

Fry me in grease and put me on a plate covered in paper towels when you're ready to serve.

Not off topic at all. ;) It's a suggestion for the game. So it relates to the topic. I'll think about it, though. ;)
