Bumpin this because there's been a TON of new info and screenies/footage released just within the past week. Looks like they are actually gonna release it on time, and I thought it would get delayed like a year.

Although I enjoyed F3 for what it was, I still liked the first 2 better for obvious reasons if you've played them, and I'm glad that New Vegas is going more for the lore of the first two unlike F3. There's even returning characters from Fallout 2. I just hope there's a lot more to the game than what they're showing us. I'm sure there is though.

Yeah, Bethesda really ruined a lot of the things that made the first two games great (mainly the story aspects). From what I've read this sounds great, and (gasp!) it sounds like, unlike Bethesda, they haven't got monkeys for programmers! :D

Hell yeah it's being developed by the same guy that developed a majority of F2, same guy that wrote the Fallout Bible, which is something Bethesda completely ignored. It's like they didn't even try with F3, they just took a couple of the same factions and threw them into a different universe. Can't nag on it too much like some people though. I put countless hours into it just like everyone else, and I enjoyed it for what it was.

I'm lovin this screenshot: http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/album_page.php?pic_id=4221

I'm gonna have fun in G.E.C.K with resources like that :D

Don't even care if it doesn't look apocalyptic. At least they have an excuse not to use the same desert wasteland theme over and over with the backstory of the area not being hit in the war, and still stick to the original lore. I just hope my crappy system runs it as good as it ran F3. That's like the most advanced game I can run on my system without bad framerates.

I did not really loike Fallout 3. Bethesda has the ability to let modders improve their games. Which makes them brilliant. I am one of those guys who has at least 20 mods loaded along with the original game. However this time its Obisidan who is developing the universe. After Bethesdas release they don't have no other choice than to make New Vegas similar to Fallout 3. However Obsidian knows how to tell stories which was one of the major problems of Bethesda. Neverwinter Nights 2 and Kotor 2 had in my opinion a good story. So I can only see improvements. However I hope the whole game won't feel like an addon to Fallout 3.

Yeah, but all of the fallouts were good.
But they did take away some originality when they made F3, but anyway it turned into gold (And I played at least 300 hours worth).
They said that FNV was much bigger then F3, more weapons, modable stuff...
Also it's taking F3 back to it's birthplace, so lets hope for it to be a bit more original.

I really want to play this game. But honestly, the graphics look awful in these videos! I'm usually not one to complain about this sort of thing, but it's something I just noticed. The game while in combat, looks stupid.

I agree. It looks like they put San Andreas in a post-apocalyptic world. :P
The weapons, the factions... all seem a bit silly IMO. Damn you Obsidian. :P

Yea, to me, the best part of Fallout 1,2 and 3 are the exploration, the social interaction, the story, and just being in the wasteland and doing whatever. Not the combat, and not VATS. Although the combat in Fallout 1 and 2 is exceptional in my opinion. The turn based anywhere system allows for some really crazy things to happen. Like someone from a gang shooting at you, missing the shot and hitting a child. No the entire town and the huge gang go into an all out war, while you head for the hills. It's stuff like that which made the first two Fallouts better than three.

Can't blame Obsidian for not wanting to make new fans angry (who never played Fallout 1 or 2). By the way for Obsidian has a lot of former Black Isle Studios employees. Black Isle worked on the first two parts of Fallout.

But yes, I agree Fallout 3 is still a good game

However I still will try New Vegas. At least it will have a similar quality to Fallout 3. Won't complain about it until I've played it.

To be fair, NV is pretty much a rehash of F3. They brought almost nothing new to the table as far as graphics go. There is a slight improvement though, like facial animations and a little bit a variety in characters. That giant stone dinosaur thing bothers me though. It looks like something right off of n64.

I would strongly disagree, on the Half assed part, I payed 60 bucks for this and I feel like I am getting at least 62. I do agree about the storyline, more about the end not the start or middle, that was awesome.

I don't know, maybe it's just my copy, but the game froze 3 times, I can't complete a lot of quests ( it doesn't show where to go on the map and I can't pick up all quest items), and worst of all the game said something about buying a dlc when I tried to save my progress! Wtf!

Some quests require you to "think" about where you need to go next. I had the same problem. I fixed it by talking to an NPC relevant to the quest. As for the DLC thing, it's referring to a certain patch they released.

I wish that this had been an expansion for Fallout 3, (even though that wouldn't really work story-wise.). Vegas does look pretty amazing though.

I friggin loved this game. Got it as soon as it was released. Took a week for patches to make it playable but once it was playable... yeah. probably the best in the series. Just goes to show that it wasn't the Gamebryo engine that screwed up the series with FO3, it was the storytelling and lack of gameplay choices and story canon. However after beating it once(I took the independent route) I don't think I'm gonna go back and play the other scenarios any time soon. Even though the story gives you many options to choose from, they're all pretty close-knit and I think it would basically be like playing the same story over again with minor changes. I'll hold out for the DLC to really start playing this again.

I never said the engine was good, just that it was the storytelling and atmosphere that made FO3 NOT Fallout. Obsidian did a great job bringing Fallout back to Fallout. I do agree that they could have used a better engine though. You know what would have been the perfect engine to use? The one they made for Van Buren. It wouldn't sell though.

I don't mind Gamebryo at all.The only issue is that it's glitchy and tends to be very limited as far as cinematics go. But the cool thing about it is that it's totally moddable.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that I got this game for Christmas. Played it and finished it in two days.

It's a really good game, got the collecter's first day.
Still haven't fully beat it though.
I'm focusing on the sidequests and leveling up.
