Well hacking is the reason people spend hundreds of dollars on Internet Security each year, so no, not a fan. And would despise anyone I knew doing it.

It's wrong and against the law. Anyone who messes with / steals information from somebody's computer is committing a crime, and should be punished. It's pretty much the equivalent of breaking into somebody's house and destroying or taking something.

hacking is extremely rarely used for anything good and can be bad for the hacker as well but... if say it was perhaps used for something like unblocking game website at school i would have no problem with it. but otherwise i don't like it at all

As long as it doesn't harm others, I'm fine with it. By that I mean, I think it's fine to hack a single player games, but not multiplayers.

they are not commiting any crimes it's not like they hack into other peoples things or do any damage. they haven't actually been able to do anything and they don't use any dangerous hack tools or anything just cmd or command prompt

That's barely hacking. CMD is a powerful tool, and could easily be misused, but it's a tool that's there on the average home computer.

Hacking can sometimes be useful, and when used for legal purposes, even helpful. But when it comes to some jack@$$ hacking into computers with criminal intent, then no. Making viruses is just wrong.

Lol, shutting down all the school computers is okay to a certain extent. Getting your friend to click on an icon which brings up an infinite amount of CMD windows scares the hell out of them. This isn't a hack, so I assume it's okay to put here:

1. Open Notepad
2. Enter the word start and copy and paste this on separate lines so that you have thousands of lines of the word start
3. Click Save As and enter a name like Click Me.bat and make sure that the file type is All Files.
4. Conspicuously place it on your friend's computer (make sure they have saved their work so you don't annoy the hell out of them) and they will eventually find it and 10s of 1000s of windows will pop up.

My opinion on hacking in singleplayers is average , I used hacks when I can't play good games , in multiplayer it says this player cant play that game , more people think Im hacking , when Im not .

Hacking my opinion is down right wrong unless for legal purposes but even then it is borderline. At my school my friend tried to hack a website and ended up DAMAGING the school's network and all the computers linked to it. So no I don't think you should flaunt the law even if it is something like this.

So then I ask, Jegar, is it wrong to use a hacking program to stop the counter when I play Minesweeper?

I am, but it's an inaccurate term. "Cheats" are built into the program, while "cheating" is "to cheat", if you know what I mena. "Hacking" it is the same as "cheating", except you use another program to change another. It's a hack, but the intention is to cheat in a game.

You can use a program to hack the Minesweeper game, but can't play it normally? ;)

I hate hackers. Although I have no problem with those who hack single player games, because that's on their computer. And I've never heard of a valid good reason for hacking.

Cheating can be used to the purposes of testing a game. So even if the game's developers decided to disable their own cheats in the released version, that doesn't mean the disabled cheats can't still benefit players. Players who writes guides for games, players who mods games, players who personalize them, players just learning your way around, will all benefit from some hacking.

The counter only have an impact on high score, not the location of mines or difficulty. ;) So it really doesn't matter if the highscore is 0 sec or 5 minutes.

You guys do relise that screweing and hacking a school computer is a federal crime, as a school is a state agency, and can get you years in prison or a many-thousand dolar fine.

CMD is not a hacking tool, but that doesn't make shutdowns anymore innocent.

........... *speechless at what people think hackers are*

I might as well tell you that really, you're misunderstanding the word 'hacking'; what most of you are talking about is 'cracking'. Now there's the common misconception that hackers are... uh... something like evil computer geniuses. That's a 'cracker', otherwise known as a "black-hat-hacker". Hackers are merely people like us that wish to widen their computer knowledge...

so..........

yeah. hope that cleared things up.

cracker = a word used to define a person who makes viruses, do malicious things to people by means of using scripts or programs. Most crackers tend to be script-kiddies.

Hacker was ORIGINALLY a term used for computer-savy people, now it's definition in English is someone who illegally accees and uses or sells information. A cracker is a racist term for a white person :P

Cracking, as the verb, is usually associated with illegally accessing software that requires an activation. A "Crack" Normally removes the activation requirement, and the need to have the CD in the drive as you use the software. Nothing to do with viruses.

Now, Some people are paid to hack into websites, so that they can tell the website manager how they did it, so it can be fixed. These people make good money doing it, and it's completely legal

Double  Love that episode.
Anyway, Yeah it depends on what's being hacked. If it's something like a singleplayer game for their own usage, whatever. But if you're hacking a website just to be a jerk, I think it's wrong.

Privacy went flying outta the window ever since the internet became used by common people. Everything that happens on the net is noted. Google and Facebook collect data about you without informing you, claiming it's only for the greater good.

Internet = Most usefull and convenient thing ever created.

4chan = Created by the internet

4chan = Most dangerous place on the internet.

Then 4chan spawned Anonymous.

Anonymous is one of the most Infamous things on the internet.

Though I'm not really sure bout the Anonymous in that tube vid up their.

And yeah Anonymous is a large internet community cult group clan thing.

Thing is, Internet has its goods and bads.

Hackers is just the one of them.

it seems most of the peple posting here is confusing hacking with cracking, hacking is altering programs, cracking is breaking into computer systems.
