Hey guys, here's some of my latest work

Postby RPGking » Wed Dec 18, 2013 2:16 pm

Hey guys. Long time no talk. Well, this is what I have been working on for the past 6 months:

The soundtrack is done by Vegetarian Meat and you can find more tracks (as well as gameplay) on my Youtube channel.

You can follow the project on the TIG Source Forums http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=36108.0 or on the Unity Forums http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/202057-TIE-A-game-about-depression, there are also playable builds up for download.

You can see my other two projects "FAR" (which originated here) and "The Deep" on my blog http://fardeepdevblog.netii.net/category/far/ (outdated).

LO-FI was a bullet-hell schmup-like shooter that took place in a totalitarian like society complete with corporate thugs. The aim was to infiltrate 1 or 3 mega corporations in the city and clear it out, floor by floor, other floors could be alerted (see the log in the screenshots) and you could be locked on a floor, forced to take out waves of guards if you were not fast enough.

Last but not least is my freelance work, two very close friends were working on a game, PR deadline hit and we were not ready, we had one day to create a pre-alpha teaser. This was the result:

I was responsible for level design, all lighting effects including post processing, as well as various models such as the fence, light pole, metal door, and other misc. objects, this also includes all particle effects.

Thanks for taking a look. :)

Hope you all enjoy.

Forum seems to be clipping those images off pretty badly. You can't see the fair bit of a few. :(

Ya, you can right click and select View Image(that's what it is for firefox), and it'll show the whole thing.

EDIT: TIE has a home now. :)

The screens on the blog show the new additive lighting system. The light "flares" change size when you approach them, and offset themselves based on the cameras offset when it move's behind the player. I'll probably update the flares to be more than just gradiated spheres, possibly rings?

I like how the first game looks like an existentialistic crisis. Good work there.

That response means I've done my job. People take from it what I want them too. I feel it's very difficult to conjure that reaction from people if the creator isn't competent or experienced otherwise in reality for him/her to be able to form the personal connection of moods, themes, and emotions. 6 months of meticulous tweaking was worth it for that response. ;)

Beautiful. The way the buildings lay on the horizon with the sun. It just feels warm.

Hmm, the image isn't at full width and adding width=700 to the [img] code didn't work so it's cut off pretty badly, you can see the full image on the blog.

Sure go for it.

TIE v1.04

Image

Controls:

A, D: Left, Right

W: Look Up

E: Interact

Mouse: Cursor movement (you can't current interact with objects with the mouse, but gives a good feel for the future)

So this is a build starting from your home to the outside scene. You must be dressed for work in order to use the door interaction at the end of the house. It's a little rough around the edges (there being no wall collision the glaring issue due too my code and some of Unity's physics settings), but there is plenty to look at...

I've made quite a few changes to the morning environment since I've last shown the game as well.

Enjoy, feedback welcome!

Did some pixel art!
