Tales of Northeta (Adventure)

Postby Fireleaf » Sun Feb 03, 2013 2:08 am

Looking for an adventure I see. :)
Well, did you bring your sword, your shovel, AND your bucket?
Did you remember to charge your lightning staff? Have you learned all three levels of Fire taming for your torch?
Well Good! Then this game just might be your cup of tea ...

You can now preview the theme song and one of the other tracks on my website (the wold symbol under my avatar).

The First Tale:
(in pieces)
"Beyond the Dim gleam on the horizon, above the richest foam of the seas, under the brightest cluster of stars, stood the kingdom of Northeta. It is said that the land was once a perfect place; ruled by a King with unimaginable power ..."
"... when she opened the door there was a tremendous earthquake that shook the whole kingdom. Lightning pierced the skies and a great wave went out from the shore in every direction ... Evil had found it's way into Northeta ..."

"Many years later, in a cave somewhere in Northeta ... Hope was re-kindled for the kingdom ..."

Gameplay:
You run around as Klyp, an orphan that has been brought up in a cave by one of the Kingdom's former knights, Glef. Your adventure includes finding and buying new tools and weapons that have different functions and purposes which allow you to explore puzzle-filled dungeons and uncover the buried secrets of Northeta. Graphically and aesthetically, this game is very nearly a tribute to the classic Legend of Zelda for NES, but the story is a bit more developed and a few other things set it apart as well.

That's some nice pixel art there. You do that yourself?

This seems like it'll be fun. Been waiting to see what you can do. Keep it up.

Well .. I used a computer. :-P Yeah I've put together all the art sounds and music for this one.

Thanks for the encouragement. I will do that. :)

Looks fun, and the graphics are really appealing. Good color usage. Definite play.

I really like the graphics, there is no clash and a central style. Gameplay looks interesting.

Looks deep! love the 8-bit style. Looks like a commercial endeavor if I ever saw one.

Thanks for all the good words on the graphics guys. It took me a long time to make an effective palette for the game that didn't clash. I'm going for pseudo 8-bit style that is really simple, but still a bit more complex than the oldest zelda.

Gamerdude wrote:Is the water and lava animated?

They are. In fact the waves (shoreline) on the beach areas are animated as well (something else that took me a long time to do). Lots of research and pixel time went into making the graphics for this one. :)

 Nice! Can I use that? Although I've never heard of 9 bit before. I thought it was usually divisible by four.
